From NYC, take I-95 north to I-91 north to Exit 2 in Vermont (Route 9).

Make a right off the ramp, follow Route 9 West for 18 miles to Wilmington, VT.

To continue to Dover, make a right at the light (the only stoplight you'll see on this road) on to Route 100 north for 6 miles.

 

An alternate method

Take Amtrak from Penn Station to either Brattleboro, VT or Albany, NY and rent a car to drive to VT.

From LA, fly into either Boston (2.5 hours away), NYC (3.5 hours away) or Hartford (1.5 hours away) and follow the directions above.

If you pick Hartford, drive up I-91 north to Exit 2 in Vermont (Route 9).
